This week we started a unit on Tomie dePaola. The students were amazed to find out he wanted to draw pictures and write books at the age of 4 and he has illustrated over 200 books! We read The Art Lesson by Tomie dePaola. After children checked out books they were able to draw a picture of whatever they wanted to draw using crayons, markers or color pencils. We sent several drawings to Tomie dePaola and hope to hear back from him before we get out for summer!

When we returned from spring break we had a letter from Tomie dePaola! Talk about excited children, not to mention a thrilled librarian!!
