In March of 2012 Molly Katherine Millwood decided she wanted to raise money to buy shoes for the children in Albertville City Schools.  She decided to sell T-shirts to raise money. Coach Mac, the principal, allowed students to go without shoes 2.5 hours one day in April. This helped raise awareness of not having shoes, imagine having to go barefoot at school all day? at work? around town? To date Molly Katherine has raised over $2500 and over 25 pairs of shoes have been bought for Albertville City School students. If you would like to help with this cause donations can be made to ACS Ready to Learn Foundation "Day Without Shoes" and mailed to
 Albertville City Schools Foundation
107 West Main Street
Albertville, AL 35950
AHS is taking orders for T-shirts until March 18 and prices are $10-$13 and bracelets are also being sold for $2 each. If you would like to purchase a shirt or bracelet please email kmillwood@albertk12.org

Made it back to kindergarten to read! Had so much fun reading to kidos. Made me miss my kindergarten days just for a minuet. I love my high school kidos
Even took one of my high school students back with me to read in kindergarten.

Well, I have not done a very good job at keeping this blog up to date. I have really been focusing on tweeting now that I am in high school but I miss blogging. So my goal is to keep this blog current and blog everything. There is always something happening in our library! These high school students have been puzzle happy and we have put together some very challenging puzzles! What a great team building activity these have been.
We have had our art students create some amazing Altered Books from the books we weeded from the library. It is so great to see old books turned into amazing works of art!
We have also started, this week! Fun fact of the day on a white board when you walk in the door and we have changed our student sign in! Students now sign in on a laptop instead of pencil and paper. I like it because it is techy and GREEN! There have been positive and negative comments but change is sometimes hard. I really think once they are use to it they will be fine. There are great changes happening in the library!

There is never a dull moment in our library! We are Aggie proud!
October is always a fun month with fall and Halloween scares!
It is also a time to show our support for our breast cancer survivors and remember those who fought hard but lost the battle and will never be forgotten.

Molly Katherine Millwood, Coach Mac, Jilli Boyd and Captain Jack Sparrow support the Aggies!!

Never give up hope for a cure.

WOW! September is almost over. Whoever said high school is breeze, well they were half right. Let me just say I LOVE my job! I thought being a kindergarten librarian was the best job ever but being a high school librarian is the best job ever! Little kids love all the pretty books but to have young adults love to read and check out books is great! I was a little worried about the change in the beginning but I am so glad I made the move!

One of my very favorite characters came to visit last week! She doesn't have a name but I call her Molly, because the kids ask who I am and what is my name! We read Miss Brooks loves books (and I don't) by Barbara Bottner. This book shows the library truly has a book for everyone.
