"Being bullied is not fun. Walk away and tell someone", great advice from llama, llama. This week we reviewed being peacemakers, not peace-breakers. We read llama, llama and the bully goat by Anna Dewdney. Each class signed a pledge to play nice with others everyday. Together with friends and team work, children built puzzles in the library. Things are so much better with friends!

Michael Recycle along with Litter Bug Doug visited BSLK this week. Children learned the importance of not littering and more about recycling. Children are encouraged to recycle at school and to tell family and friends about recycling at home. With Albertville's curb pick up recycling is easy! The Albertville recycling center is also conveniently located downtown Albertville for 24/7 drop off. Please join the students, faculty and staff at BSLK along with the city of Albertville and recycle, reduce and reuse. If you want to become more involved in recycling or have any questions about what can be recycled please visit the City of Albertville Recycling or Keep Albertville Beautiful.

Dr. Booklove visited the library this week and read What Happened to Marion's Book? by Brooke Berg. Marion did not take very good care of her library book and had to pay to replace the damaged book. Dr. Booklove taught us about taking care of library books. After the lesson students checked out their first library book to take home.

Library is AWESOME
What a great week we had in library! Of course, we had to learn the library rules but then we got to explore the library and play! The best part was meeting our library bat, Battyrella, and Ms. Millwood, wearing cool bat glasses, read Bats at the Library by Brian Lies.
Nap time is the best time! We survived the first full week of kindergarten!! |

Earth Day is April 22, please do your part and help our Earth. We revisited recycling and not littering and keeping our community clean. We made a bulletin board out of junk mail we collect at school for only one week!! We made four trees, only two are in the picture. Please recycle! Albertville has a great recycling center and now with recycling cans at your house and curb pick up it is easy as 1-2-3!!

What a fun and wild week in kindergarten! After being out for snow, coming back to book fair and playing catch up! Our journey to fairy tale land continues. We are comparing Little Red Riding Hood stories. We have read Petite Rouge Riding Hood A Cajun Red Riding Hood by Mike Artell and Flossie and the Fox by Patricia McKissack. Instead of a wolf we have had an alligator and a fox! A lot of fun to read, watch and listen to these great stories.
